Such as a parboiled onion over an earache using a headband or using magic socks to help prevent/treat colds. Magic socks: using a pair of cotton socks dampened and rung putting them on our feet with a dry pair of wool socks over and going to bed. Then magically waking up the next morning not congested/sick and our socks being dry!
